My name is Claire Forster, I qualified as a speech & language therapist in 1998 from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh and have since been awarded an MA (with distinction) in Health Research by Lancaster University. Perhaps more important than my qualifications is my passionate belief in the work done by Speech and Language Therapists and the potential for making a huge positive impact on the lives of those affected by communication difficulties.
Coupled with the positive approach I bring to all consultations is realism. I believe it is essential - and ethically the only option - to set realistic goals for the client or patient, goals that are appropriate to the needs and capabilities of the individual.
My belief in the role of speech and language therapy has led me to develop a new technique for articluation problems using tactile feedback palates. I am named as inventor together with Paul Mallett, Maxillofacial Technologist for this technicque, patented by North Lancs Primary Care Trust. |
